Melee also resets your FOV to default during the animation, so it can be very disorienting. Sprinting multiplies your FOV, so if you run at 100 FOV, you get what feels like 140 FOV. Notably, sprinting and melee on some characters. It's also worth noting that there are certain things in the game that don't work properly with higher FOV. Best solution with that is to bind the FOV a key you already use like sprint, or walk forward, which borderlands config editor lets you do.
